What’s Linda’s Refrigerator?

frig300

Yes, I admit it! Linda’s Refrigerator is just another “foodie” voice in the blogosphere! It’s my ramblings about my culinary exploits in Indianapolis (and surrounding areas!) I am no Anthony Bourdain (snarky and rich). I do not pretend to be Gail Simmons (rackful and rich) nor as special as one of those snooty semi-famous bloggers they feature on Top Chef (I appreciate what they do, but not their attitudes). I am just interested in sharing and learning more about the food and culture in Indianapolis.

I am also interested in learning more about those non-chain restaurants of Indy.  Seems to me that the more you share, write and read, the more you learn about the restaurants that may not be so prominently featured in the Indianapolis Monthly or haunts of the “in” crowd. Not that I have an issue with the “in” crowd per se, but sometimes I want something that’s not popular because someone said it was cool. But popular because someone said, “damn, it’s good!”

I also want to share some of the recipes my husband and I love. And some, we love not so much!

So check out my frig this week! I’ll show you mine if you show me yours!

FOR CONSUMERS OF THIS BLOG: I am not paid nor invited to do these reviews. I have received no coupons nor been asked to show up. It’s just me or me and the hubby or me and the gang, or me, eating and enjoying…or not.

I just wanted to pass along a tip about a great place I stumbled upon last week. Fountain Square has a new English style pub, the Red Lion Grog House. Although I’m vegetarian, my friends have been raving about the food, including such pub standards as Fish and Chips and an array of interesting burgers. For me they have a portobello mushroom entry that was really succulent. I’ve also had a made-from-scratch veggie burger they prepare to any of their real burger ingredients. For me, it was the combo of tasty and a really welcoming atmosphere. I’m told they will begin serving beer and wine on April 5th, and plan to take my friends there sometime that week for some pints and dinner.

    Hi Linda,

I love your reviews. They’re very detailed, and your personality shines through. Would you happen to know if Mississippi Belle has all-you-can-eat refills on food & drink during both lunch and dinner and if this every day?

Thanks much, and keep up the great reviews!

Hi Linda, I was just reviewing your post again. Thanks for the review. I wanted to invite you back to Queso Blanco. We now have on Monday and Tuesdays from 4 to 8. Texas style fall off the bone baby back barbecue ribs. These are seasoned with our special dried roasted then ground chili pepper from Mexico then cooked all night. It’s not the typical Jalapeno it’s another chili pepper that we can kick up the spice as much or as little as the customer wants. If you like good barbeque as we do you will enjoy these baby back ribs. Thanks again Terrel, President Queso Blanco Inc.

    Hi Linda!

I love your blog and thought I might share some foodie love. Kroger is having a Fresh Twist on Holiday Cooking event at a bunch of stores in Indianapolis. They are sampling specialty fruits and gourmet items for customers to try and potentially use in holiday recipes this season. I read about it on http://www.friedas.com/krogerproduceu I think you would really like this event since the items are different and look really yummy. They’re giving out free recipes too! It’s this saturday, 11/12.

Thanks again for having your blog! I love it!
